Erin Barbeau

Erin Barbeau is an undergraduate who works in the Bug Closet and also serves as its Outreach Coordinator. Her degree focus is biology with an emphasis on ecology and entomology. Erin is often referred to as “the butterfly girl” since her specialty is Lepidoptera (butterflies, moths, and skippers). She has previously worked for the University of Florida at the Indian River Research and Education Center as a lab assistant caring for colonies of Mexican bromeliad weevils. Additionally, at the Savannas Preserve State Park, Erin is currently running a field study on butterfly populations and prescribed burns. Her previous outreach experience includes a public library internship under a children’s librarian, insect programs at the Savannas Preserve State Park, and outreach with the Entomological Society of Central Florida (ESCF).
