New Technology Inside 2009 Election South Africa

With all the bad news happening around the African continent, I thought I would find a feel good story. It seems that advanced technology exists, in a place that so many times are deprived of the basic things we take for granted in America. On April 22, 2009, South Africans are going to the polls to elect a new leader. But different from past elections, the political parties are using more advanced ways to communicate with the voters. Fort the first time, the candidates can actually buy advertisement times on the television stations. Both parties, which are running in the election, are trying their best to find ways to show themselves in a good light to the voters. Although the stronger party, the African National Congress (ANC) have more funds available then the opposition party the Democratic Alliance (DA).

They are both using social networking sites to their advantage. But as only ten percent of the populations are online this is a proving hard. There are more with mobile phones, so text messages are sent. But is good news that the Internet is playing apart in the 2009 election and websites and blogs are increasing slowly. But the biggest surprise is that the latest American obsession twitter.com, is available in some places. Son in the not so distant future, you will be able to send a “tweet” your vote all the way to South Africa.
