 Officer Meeting

Location: Partnership II, first floor meeting room
Present: Joe Keebler, Carrie Murphy, Katie Del Giudice, Heather Lum, and Dave Schuster

  • The application for chapter recognition is due August 15!
  • The Space Coast Chapter is meeting in June – Joe and Carrie will try to attend this meeting and meet with Michelle Reuter about future collaborations
  • Touring the NASA facilities is not looking good anytime soon – Michelle is quite busy with other things and this might not happen over the summer
  • Dr. Barnett needs help with editing chapters for an upcoming book. In return, he will come speak to the chapter in the fall or spring
  • Joe will meet with the leaders of Psi Chi and the Psychological Society about ways to collaborate and get more undergraduates involved
  • We need to come up with ideas to encourage people to become dues-paying members of the group.

Comps

  • We need to sponsor study sessions, perhaps twice a month with one in June, two in July, and two in August
  • Invite Dr. Jentsch to at least one of the study sessions to talk about the research methods section of comps
  • We could make an online repository for comps information – perhaps a Wiki where people could add information as they come across it. In the past, this purpose was served by binders passed down to each year’s group and by a Yahoo groups bulletin board

NEM

  • Make buttons!
  • Make a calendar with Demotivators-like pictures
  • Anthropometric Frankentein (made to 95th percentile) — can take around to schools and groups on campus to show who products are typically designed for
  • Video game display – do this twice with one in the Union and one in the Psych building
  • Bad design on UCF’s campus photo scavenger hunt with prizes
  • Face painting at football games
  • Have teams of students visit local businesses to do ergonomic evaluations for free – can also use as publications or class projects
