{"id":340,"date":"2012-07-26T11:12:34","date_gmt":"2012-07-26T15:12:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/10.171.92.38\/~anthropo\/?page_id=340"},"modified":"2019-12-06T14:28:17","modified_gmt":"2019-12-06T19:28:17","slug":"prospective-students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/anthropology\/undergraduate\/prospective-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Prospective Undergraduate Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">The anthropology major results in a broad understanding of humans and the human condition, both past and present.\u00a0 Students are required to pursue a course of study that leads to training in all subdisciplines of anthropology.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-12 col-lg-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>The recognized subdisciplines of anthropology are:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Archaeology<\/li>\n<li>Cultural Anthropology<\/li>\n<li>Biological Anthropology<\/li>\n<li>Linguistic Anthropology<\/li>\n<li>Public &amp; Applied Anthropology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-12 col-lg-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>Undergraduate course offerings include but are not limited to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lab based classes (flintknapping, ceramics, primatology, osteology, human origins)<\/li>\n<li>Internships, Study Abroad and Field Schools<\/li>\n<li>Area Studies (North America, Latin America, Middle East)<\/li>\n<li>Methods (public anthropology, ethnographic methods, archaeology methods, GIS, quantitative methods, digital anthropology)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\tStudents majoring or minoring in anthropology with sufficient course background may be provided an opportunity to participate in ongoing field and laboratory research opportunities.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-12 col-lg-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>The anthropology faculty conducts research in many areas and has projects in locations that include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Argentina<\/li>\n<li>Belize<\/li>\n<li>Bolivia<\/li>\n<li>Brazil<\/li>\n<li>Caribbean<\/li>\n<li>Colombia<\/li>\n<li>Croatia<\/li>\n<li>Egypt<\/li>\n<li>Florida<\/li>\n<li>Guatemala<\/li>\n<li>Ireland<\/li>\n<li>Lithuania<\/li>\n<li>Malta<\/li>\n<li>Mexico<\/li>\n<li>Peru<\/li>\n<li>Poland<\/li>\n<li>The Philippines<\/li>\n<li>Turkey<\/li>\n<li>United States<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-12 col-lg-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>The anthropology faculty also maintains eight research facilities on the UCF main campus:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BioARC Lab<\/li>\n<li>Forensic Anthropology Lab<\/li>\n<li>Geophysical Lab<\/li>\n<li>Interdisciplinary Geospatial Science Lab<\/li>\n<li>Latin American and Caribbean Archaeology Lab<\/li>\n<li>Lithic &amp; Ceramic Analysis Archaeology Lab<\/li>\n<li>Paleoethnobotany Archaeology Lab<\/li>\n<li>The UCF Laboratory for Bioarchaeological Sciences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The anthropology major results in a broad understanding of humans and the human condition, both past and present.\u00a0 Students are required to pursue a course of study that leads to training in all subdisciplines of anthropology.
