Faculty mentors provide guidance on coursework, research, professional development, and degree milestones. Because mentorship is central to the program, admission is contingent upon the availability of and fit with a graduate advisor.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5 class=\"text-justify\">Do I Need a Degree in Anthropology to Apply?<\/h5>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">No. Applicants are not required to hold a degree in Anthropology. Students from a variety of academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. However, supplemental coursework may be recommended for those without a background in Anthropology or who are missing key foundational courses.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5 class=\"text-justify\">How Do I Identify a Potential Faculty Advisor?<\/h5>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Prospective students should review faculty research interests and identify faculty members whose expertise aligns with their academic and professional goals. Because admission is dependent upon advisor availability and research fit, applicants are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with faculty research before applying.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5 class=\"text-justify\">What Research Opportunities Are Available?<\/h5>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Graduate students have opportunities to engage in fieldwork, laboratory research, community-based research, and faculty-led projects. Research opportunities vary by subdiscipline and faculty expertise, and students work closely with their advisors to develop research experiences that support their academic and professional goals.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5 class=\"text-justify\">What Is the Difference Between the M.A. and Ph.D. Programs?<\/h5>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/anthropology\/master-of-arts-program\/\">Anthropology M.A.<\/a> program provides advanced training in anthropological theory, methods, and professional skills while preparing students for careers in anthropology-related fields or doctoral study. Students in the non-thesis option complete additional coursework and a comprehensive examination in lieu of a thesis. Students should consult with their advisor to determine which option best aligns with their academic and career goals.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5 class=\"text-justify\">Where Are Anthropology Alumni Working?<\/h5>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Graduates of UCF Anthropology pursue careers in cultural resource management, museums, government agencies, healthcare, education, nonprofit organizations, forensic sciences, user experience research, and higher education.
