Archaeologist born and raised in Quetzaltenango, a town in the western highlands of Guatemala. Earned a B.A. in Archaeology from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (2010), an M.A. in Anthropology (2017), and a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (2021) from the University of Central Florida (UCF). He also completed his Ph.D. in the Integrative Anthropological Sciences program in the Department of Anthropology at UCF.<\/p>\n
His research focuses on Landscape Archaeology and Geographic Information Systems applied to Maya archaeology. He has participated in archaeological projects since 2004 as a student and since 2010 as a professional archaeologist. His experience includes excavation, land surveying, and cartography at sites in the highlands, lowlands, and Pacific coast of Guatemala. His undergraduate thesis research was conducted at the site of El Soch in the highlands, while his master\u2019s and doctoral research focused on the site of Holtun under the supervision of Dr. Brigitte Kovacevich.<\/p>\n
He has worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Anthropology at UCF and previously served as an adjunct professor at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala between 2008 and 2014 and again during the fall of 2017. He also completed undergraduate studies in Architecture at Francisco Marroqu\u00edn University between 2000 and 2003 before transferring to the Archaeology program at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala in 2004.<\/p>\n
He is a member of the Guatemalan Association of Archaeology, the Guatemalan Association of Professional Humanists, the Society for American Archaeology, and Lambda Alpha Honors Society.
