Prior to joining UCF, he served as faculty at Purdue University, Rollins College, and the University of North Texas Health Science Center.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kline\u2019s research uses in-depth qualitative, community-based approaches to pressing public health problems. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institutes of Health NIH). His book,\u00a0<em>Pathogenic Policing: Immigration Enforcement and Health in the US South,\u00a0<\/em>was published by Rutgers University Press in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>As an instructor, Dr. Kline has taught several community-based courses in which students work collaboratively with community organizations to address local public health problems and apply public health principles in real-world settings.\u00a0 His pedagogy is informed by theories of engaged learning and learner-centered teaching.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kline has received several research, teaching, service, and community awards, including the Early Career Engaged Scholarship Faculty Award from the Florida Campus Compact. In 2019, he was named as one of Orlando\u2019s \u201c40 under 40\u201d by the Orlando Business Journal, and in 2024, he was made a fellow of the Society for Applied Anthropology.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kline joined the University of Central Florida\u2019s College of Medicine, Department of Population Health Sciences, in 2023 and received a secondary joint appointment in the University of Central Florida\u2019s College of Sciences, Department of Anthropology, in 2026.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recent Publications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Peer Reviewed Articles:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thompson, Erika L., Stacey B Griner, Jessica Grace, Grace Maynard, Idara N.
