John Hart

Research Area(s)

Dr Hart holds a PhD in Plant Breeding (2014) from Cornell University and was a Postdoctoral Research Geneticist with the USDA-ARS from 2014-2016. He currently directs breeding programs in several vegetable crops at EarthWork Seeds Inc., a small vegetable germplasm development company based in nearby Oviedo, and he continues to collaborate on research that is focused on elucidating the natural genetic basis of crop traits with economic importance. Dr. Hart’s overall research goals are to survey, develop, and deploy the genetic diversity of vegetables and specialty crops to enhance sustainable agriculture, rural development, economic viability, and human health in regional and international contexts.
