Simona Ceriani

Dr. Simona Ceriani is a conservation scientist and sea turtle biologist. She is a Research Scientist for the marine turtle program at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI), Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the coordinator of the Florida Index Nesting Beach Survey (INBS) program. Her research interest focuses on migration and ecology of Florida sea turtles across life stages and on sea turtle nesting trends. Dr. Ceriani utilizes advanced technologies such as satellite telemetry and intrinsic markers to determine geographic origin of sea turtles and investigate carry-over effects. Dr. Ceriani’s more recent projects include studying ontogenetic shifts, foraging ecology, resource use and individual specialization across species and life stages.
