There are 34 recognized species within the family. Only three occur in the Atlantic and several are widely distributed across the Indo-Pacific.\u00a0 We have a particular interest in the species of the genus <em>Paracirrhites<\/em> in which stable and sympatric color morphs have been documented in three of the six species<em>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"img-fluid wp-image-356 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/gaitherlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/Marine_phylogeo-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/gaitherlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/Marine_phylogeo-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/gaitherlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/Marine_phylogeo-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/gaitherlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/Marine_phylogeo.jpg 575w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row mt-5\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<h3>Red Sea Phylogeography<\/h3>\n<p>Working with collaborators at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) we&#8217;ve published a number of studies on Red Sea phylogeography and have ongoing projects on Red Sea hawkfish <em>Paracirrhites forsteri<\/em>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"256\" class=\"img-fluid wp-image-378 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/gaitherlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/RedSea-300x256.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/gaitherlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/RedSea-300x256.png 300w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/gaitherlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/RedSea.png 343w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row mt-5\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<h3>Population Connectivity in the Northern Mariana Islands<\/h3>\n<p>One of our primary interests in the NMI is in understanding latitudinal effects on life history and population connectivity.
