Dr. Kumar has been working as a post-doctoral fellow in the Genomics and Bioinformatics Cluster since July 2018. After obtaining his Ph.D. from Goa University in Marine Sciences, Dr. Kumar moved to Czech Republic for his post-doctoral studies at the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice. His research interests are broadly focused on the processes of genetic variation and molecular evolution in fish species. In particular, his research program is directed towards 1) the use of environmental DNA (eDNA) to assess biodiversity of fish species; 2) the application of techniques in molecular genetics to help and resolve problems in fishery science; and 3) the use of molecular genetic data to infer the evolutionary relationships.
