{"id":617,"date":"2017-09-15T16:51:08","date_gmt":"2017-09-15T20:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/sharanowski-lab\/?page_id=617"},"modified":"2021-11-23T14:22:13","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T19:22:13","slug":"join-the-lab","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/sharanowski-lab\/join-the-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"Join the Sharanowski Lab!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 300\">I&#8217;m looking for graduate students <\/span><strong>with a background or demonstrated an interest<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 300\">\u00a0in one of the following:<\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<ol>\n<li>&#8211; Taxonomy and evolution of Hymenoptera, particularly Ichneumonoidea.<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Bioinformatics, with a focus on biodiversity informatics, or developing tools for studying molecular and\/or genome evolution<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Insect Phylogenomics using next-gen sequencing technologies<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Unfortunately, I cannot accept students in other subdisciplines of entomology at this time.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants should send an email to Dr. Sharanowski (barb.sharanowski[a]ucf.edu)\u00a0 with the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a CV outlining research experience with references included<\/li>\n<li>a copy of current transcripts (covering at least the past 2 years)<\/li>\n<li>and a statement of research interests including why you want to join the Sharanowski Lab<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Only serious inquiries and those prospective students who follow these instructions will be considered. Preference will be given to USA students or landed immigrants, but international students are encouraged to apply.<br \/>\nPotential post-docs are also welcome to inquire about opportunities. At this time only students eligible for the NSERC Post-doctoral fellowship or students who can obtain their own funding will be considered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/biology\/sharanowski-lab\/about-ucf\/\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> to learn more about UCF.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p><strong><big>Undergraduates<\/big><\/strong> looking to get research experience in entomology with a focus on molecular systematics, taxonomy, or evolution of Hymenoptera are also encouraged to apply.
