The University of Central Florida and Canaveral National Seashore initially entered into a joint Memorandum of Understanding in 1999 to engage the use of Fellers House Field Station as a research facility to promote conservation-based, cutting-edge scientific research and related educational endeavors.\u00a0 Housed on the edge of Mosquito Lagoon (northern-most section of the Indian River Lagoon system) within the boundaries of Canaveral National Seashore, Fellers House Field Station is managed by the UCF Department of Biology under Dr. Linda Walters, Professor of Biology.<\/p>\n

This facility has provided estuarine access to hundreds of UCF students for classes, has been the site of numerous preK \u2013 12th<\/sup> grade educators\u2019 workshops, and continues to be used extensively for field research by faculty and students in the Biology Department at UCF.\u00a0 Current and recent research projects have focused on intertidal oysters, sea turtles, wading birds, fishes, invertebrates, marine mammals, mangroves, seagrasses, marshgrasses, and macroalgae.<\/p>\n
