The core curriculum provides a background in chemical, mathematical, and physical sciences, as well as broad preparation in the biological sciences. Selection of electives allows for students to focus on areas of biology that they are most interested in (e.g., molecular biology, conservation biology, marine biology). Preprofessional students can follow a track of restricted and unrestricted electives to satisfy professional school (e.g., medical, dental, optometry, pharmacy, veterinary) admission requirements while completing their B.S. degree in Biology. Research experience and exposure to specialized topics not taught through formal courses may be gained through independent study contracts. Graduates are well prepared to further their education in professional or graduate schools. Additionally, this diverse background and training in the sciences opens career opportunities for graduates in areas outside of traditional biological fields.<\/p>\n<p>The UCF Department of Biology offers mainly <strong>Face-to-face learning.<\/strong>\u00a0 Face-to-face learning is an instructional method where course content and learning material are taught in person to a group of students. This allows for a live interaction between a learner and an instructor. It is the most traditional type of learning instruction. Learners benefit from a greater level of interaction with their fellow students as well. In face-to-face learning, students are held accountable for their progress at the class\u2019s specific meeting date and time. Face-to-face learning ensures a better understanding and recollection of lesson content and gives class members a chance to bond with one another.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"jumbotron jumbotron-fluid bg-primary mb-0\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"container\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<header>\n<h2 class=\"heading-underline-inverse\">DEGREE REQUIREMENTS<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n<p>The core curriculum provides a background in chemical, mathematical, and physical sciences, as well as broad preparation in the biological sciences. This intensive research opportunity enhances the academic experience and challenges students to strengthen their critical, analytical, and writing skills.
