Teaching Instrumentation
This instrumentation’s primary focus is geared toward teaching and education. Most of this instrumentation is utilized in some function for the various teaching labs. Any and all of this instrumentation may be also be used for research, but teaching labs will take priority in the reservation calendar. Agilent 6850 Gas Chromatograph and 5975 Single Quadrapole Mass Spectrometer
Autosampler holds two 4 mL wash vials and up to twenty-three 2 mL standard sample vials. Compact GC oven capable of carrying out separations from room temperature up to 400°C (dependent upon the type of column being used). Mass Spectrometer can run in scan and or SIM mode and detect masses from 10 amu up to 950 amu.

Thermo DSQ 1 Gas Chromatograph and Single Quadrapole Mass Spectrometer
Autosampler holds four 2 mL wash vials and up to fifty 2 mL standard sample vials. Full size GC oven capable of carrying out separations from room temperature up to 400°C (dependent upon the type of column being used). Mass Spectrometer can run in scan and or SIM mode and detect masses from 10 amu up to 950 amu. Also has injection probe for single samples.

Perkin Elmer Clarus 500 Gas Chromatograph with FID Detector
Autosampler holds up four 4 mL wash vials and eighty 2 mL standard sample vials. Full size GC oven capable of carrying out separations from room temperature up to 400°C (dependent upon the type of column being used). Flame ionization detector is able to detect any volatile combustable sample.

Perkin Elmer Series 200 HPLC with Binary Pump and UV Detector
Autosampler holds up to one hundred 2 mL standard sample vials. Binary pump is capable of pumping any gradient of two solvents. Utilizes any standard HPLC column. UV detector has deuterium lamp capable of absorbance between 200 and 400 nanometers.

TA Instruments TGA and DSC
Autoampler for TGA capable of utilizing a variety of pans with short handles. TGA ramps up to 40°C/minute (max temp is determined by the pan material). DSC

Has leads for ground, counter, working and electrodes. Capable of collecting data for a wide variety of electrochemistry applications.

Has red laser and green diode laser, flexible fiber optic probe and CCD detector.

Ocean Optics Fluorimeter with LED and Deuterium and Halogen Lamp
This is a small component fluorimeter, it has NO monochromators. Fiber optics deliver source light to the sample and emission to the CCD detector. Excitation sources include a blue LED or the Deuterium and Halogen lamp can be used instead.

Agilent 8453 UV-Vis Absorbance Spectrometer #1 & #2
Takes standard 1cm cuvette or 1cm micro-cuvette. Uses deuterium UV lamp and tungsten visible lamp. Photodiode array detector. Capable of scanning range from 200 nm to 900 nm.

Jasco 4100 MIR FT-IR with ATR
MIR source with KBr windows and a TGS detector. Works well for samples from 4000-600 cm-1. Has both a traditional sample holder for salt plates or IR cards and an ATR attachment with a diamond for solid samples.

Bruker Vertex 70 FT-IR With Helios ATR
MIR source with KBr windows and a DLaTGS detector for MIR and a DTGS detector for FIR. FIR spectra will still have limitations from the KBr windows. Has both a traditional sample holder for salt plates or IR cards and an ATR attachment with a diamond for solid samples.

Shimadzu Gas Chromatograph with ECD and TCD Detector
Full size GC oven capable of carrying out separations from room temperature up to 400°C (dependent upon the type of column being used). Is set up for two different columns, one using the TCD detector and the other the ECD.
