Dr. Chen’s research interests focus on designing and building nanomaterials rationally from the viewpoint of material chemistry. Currently, Dr. Chen’s research projects target the colloidal plasmonic nanoparticles (CPNs) which have remarkable properties and far-reaching applications that are size, shape and composition dependent. Specifically, his group wants to realize the precise control of CPNs, which is of critical importance to understand the structure-property correlation, customize the CPNs synthesis and surface engineering for specific applications, including catalysis, biosensing and sustainable energy. Its realization will be accompanied by a better understanding of mechanism and the development of synthetic and surface engineering techniques, which provides many exciting opportunities for discovering new applications.
