Young Investigator Program<\/td>\nVaries<\/td>\nYIP seeks to identify and support academic scientists and engineers who are in their first or second full-time tenure-track or tenure-track-equivalent academic appointment and for FY16, have begun their first appointment on or after Nov. 1, 2010, and who show exceptional promise for doing creative research.<\/p>\n
Young Faculty Award<\/a><\/td>\nJanuary<\/td>\nThe objective of the DARPA Young Faculty Award (YFA) program is to identify and engage rising research stars in junior faculty positions at U.S. academic institutions and introduce them to Department of Defense needs as well as DARPA\u2019s program development process.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Early Career Research Program<\/a><\/td>\nNovember<\/td>\nThe Early Career Research Program, now in its seventh year, supports the development of individual research programs of outstanding scientists early in their careers and stimulates research careers in the disciplines supported by the DOE Office of Science.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
National Institute of Food and Agriculture<\/a><\/td>\nVaries<\/td>\nAgriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) provides funding for fundamental and applied research, extension, and education to address food and agricultural sciences.\u00a0AFRI supersedes the National Research Initiative.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
NIH Director’s New Innovator Award<\/a><\/td>\nOctober<\/td>\nThe NIH Director’s New Innovator Award program is different from traditional NIH grants in several ways. It is designed specifically to support unusually creative new investigators with highly innovative research ideas at an early stage of their career when they may lack the preliminary data required for an R01 grant. The emphasis is on innovation and creativity; preliminary data are not required, but may be included.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
NSF- CAREER Program<\/a><\/td>\nJuly<\/td>\nThe Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Awards<\/a><\/td>\nJanuary<\/td>\nThe Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards provide seed money for research by junior faculty at ORAU member institutions. These awards are intended to enrich the research and professional growth of young faculty and result in new funding opportunities. Eligible applicants are full-time assistant professors within two years of their initial tenure track appointment (1\/11\/2014 through 1\/11\/2016) at the time of application at an ORAU member institution. The research project must be in one of the following five disciplines: Engineering and Applied Science; Life Sciences; Mathematics\/Computer Sciences; Physical Sciences and Policy; Management, or Education.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

ACS-\u00a0Petroleum Research Fund<\/a><\/td>\nMarch<\/td>\nACS Petroleum Research Fund (ACS PRF) grants are intended as seed money, to enable an investigator to initiate a new research direction. The investigator should not have published or received financial support from another funding agency for the proposed research.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation<\/a><\/td>\nDecember<\/td>\nThese grants are designed to fill the critical need for startup funds for less experienced researchers to pursue promising research ideas. Sloan Research Fellows<\/a><\/td>\nSeptember<\/td>\nThe Sloan Research Fellowships seek to stimulate fundamental research by early-career scientists and scholars of outstanding promise. \u00a0These two-year fellowships are awarded yearly to 126 researchers in recognition of distinguished performance and a unique potential to make substantial contributions to their field.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Whitehall Foundation<\/a><\/td>\nVaries<\/td>\nFunds researchers at the assistant professor level in the life sciences. The Foundation is currently interested in basic research in neurobiology. Awards are up to $30,000 for one year.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
