Her research spans the cognitive and health humanities, involving methods and principles from literary studies, experimental psychology, and psychiatry. Her first monograph,\u202fKafka&#8217;s Cognitive Realism\u202f(2014), explored experiences of the \u201cKafkaesque\u201d with a focus on mental imagery and emotional responses, and in 2018 she co-authored the third edition of the world\u2019s leading textbook on consciousness (Consciousness: An Introduction, with Susan Blackmore).
