Teacher-in-Residence Program
Lunar-VISE builds upon a Teacher-in-Residence program that was developed at UCF for the NASA-funded STRATA-2P program and will give K-12 teachers a hands-on opportunity to participate in the mission, and then develop classroom activities suitable for their students. The Teacher-in-Residence program supports a cohort of K-12 teachers with stipends for a total of eight weeks.
During the first four weeks of the program, teachers work directly with the UCF science team to gain experience with image analysis using Python; data exploration, analysis and visualization; and optical and thermal instrument design and fabrication. Teachers-in-Residence will then develop curricula related to the project to use with their students. Finally, the participants will prepare reports documenting how the experience impacted their students’ learning and their own teaching.
