{"id":10,"date":"2015-12-15T09:47:49","date_gmt":"2015-12-15T14:47:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/math.cos.ucf.edu\/centralfloridamathcircle\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2019-11-06T13:44:37","modified_gmt":"2019-11-06T18:44:37","slug":"10-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/math\/circle\/10-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Central Florida Math Circle is an effort of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/math\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of Mathematics<\/a> at the <a href=\"http:\/\/ucf.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of Central Florida<\/a> to offer the middle\/high school students of the Central Florida region an opportunity to have fun with mathematics.<\/p>\n<p>The Math Circle is not directed towards a particular curriculum; it is not a class, a lecture or a tutorial. It\u00a0is a directed experience in encouragement of student discovery of mathematics. We are happy to be part of a national effort &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mathcircles.org\">The National Association of Math Circles<\/a>&#8221; to encourage and develop mathematical insight in students.<\/p>\n<h2>Registration<\/h2>\n<p>Registration for the spring in 2019 is closed.<\/p>\n<h2>Our Sessions<\/h2>\n<p>All sessions are guided by math\/math education faculties, graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Central Florida. Each session consists of two parts. In the first part of each session (2:00 pm \u2013 3:30 pm), faculty members will give talks on the intriguing topics of mathematics or lead mathematical explorations. In the second part of each session (3:30 pm \u2013 4:30 pm), students will be engaged in problem solving and discussion activities with the curriculum related enrichment topics which will sharpen their understanding of the curriculum related materials.<\/p>\n<p>All sessions will be held on Saturdays, 2:00pm-4: 30 pm, in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Mathematical+Sciences+Building,+Orlando,+FL+32816\/@28.5995747,-81.2005892,17z\/data=!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x88e7685db409ea8f:0xd43056fe9a280745!2sMathematical+Sciences+Building,+Orlando,+FL+32816!3b1!8m2!3d28.5996669!4d-81.2003372!3m4!1s0x88e7685db409ea8f:0xd43056fe9a280745!8m2!3d28.5996669!4d-81.2003372\">Mathematical Sciences Building\u00a0<\/a>on the UCF campus.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\">The first part of the session will be held in MSB 360.
