{"id":1517,"date":"2014-08-04T14:34:09","date_gmt":"2014-08-04T18:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/math.cos.ucf.edu\/wp\/?page_id=123"},"modified":"2025-08-19T23:37:47","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T03:37:47","slug":"certificate","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/math\/graduate\/certificate\/","title":{"rendered":"Certificate Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Graduate Certificate Program in Mathematics<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"114\" data-end=\"288\">The UCF Mathematics Graduate Certificate Program has been offered since Fall 2009, with two additional tracks\u2014Financial Mathematics and Data Modeling\u2014introduced in Fall 2020.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"290\" data-end=\"862\">\n<li data-start=\"290\" data-end=\"457\">\n<p data-start=\"292\" data-end=\"457\">The <strong data-start=\"296\" data-end=\"331\">General Mathematics Certificate<\/strong> is primarily designed to prepare students to teach college-level mathematics at the high school or community college level.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"458\" data-end=\"655\">\n<p data-start=\"460\" data-end=\"655\">The <strong data-start=\"464\" data-end=\"501\">Financial Mathematics Certificate<\/strong> is tailored for students seeking knowledge in mathematical finance and preparing for careers in the financial services industry or regulatory agencies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"656\" data-end=\"862\">\n<p data-start=\"658\" data-end=\"862\">The <strong data-start=\"662\" data-end=\"691\">Data Modeling Certificate<\/strong> is intended for students interested in mathematical modeling and analytics techniques for data extraction, preparing them for careers as data analysts or data architects.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"864\" data-end=\"979\">A brief description of the certificate programs can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/catalog\/graduate\/#\/programs\">UCF Graduate Catalog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"1266\"><strong data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"1006\">Program Requirements:<\/strong><br data-start=\"1006\" data-end=\"1009\" \/>Students pursuing the general graduate certificate must complete <strong data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1093\">18 credit hours<\/strong> of graduate-level mathematics coursework. Those in the Financial Mathematics or Data Modeling tracks are required to complete <strong data-start=\"1220\" data-end=\"1239\">12 credit hours<\/strong> of graduate-level courses.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1268\" data-end=\"1641\">Some courses are available in a distance-learning format, including recorded lectures and proctored exams at approved local facilities. However, not all electives or prerequisites may be available online. Additionally, UCF is not authorized to deliver online instruction in certain states.
