\"Psychology<\/a>The American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) has presented the 2014 Stuart C. Tentoni Outstanding Professional Development Award to the UCF program, \u2018Diverse doctoral students: bridging the gap between culture and psychology.\u2019<\/p>\n

The symposium provided a forum for an open dialogue about diverse students\u2019 unique experiences and challenges in doctoral programs. The focus was set on students \u201cperspectives and experiences navigating academic and clinical demands, especially as they pertain to issues of diversity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The American Psychological Association (APA) is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States. The APA is the world\u2019s largest association of psychologists, with nearly 130,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students as its members.<\/p>\n

Andel Nicasio and Kirran Bahkshi, Chair and Co-chair of the Symposium, led the discussion with other participants in the symposium. Participants included Morgan Coley from the University of Nebraska, Annelise Cunninhan from UCF, and Maria Espinola from the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology at the Boston University School of Medicine.<\/p>\n

This award recognizes the quality of the work produced and presented by UCF students at the 2014 Annual Convention of the APA held in Washington DC. The presentation was reviewed by members of the APAGS Convention Committee and the review was completed after the participant evaluations were collected following the symposium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
