They were found to date back to between AD 430 to AD 1820.<\/p>\n<p>Schultz was first asked by <a href=\"http:\/\/sta.uwi.edu\/fhe\/history\/BasilReid.asp\">Dr. Basil Reid<\/a>, senior lecturer in archaeology at <a href=\"http:\/\/sta.uwi.edu\/\">The University of the West Indies, St Augustine<\/a>, to review images of the human skeletal material through email. Reid is the Lead Archaeologist of the Red House Archaeological Excavations, Office of the Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Schultz met Reid during his graduate studies at the University of Florida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis ultimately led to him asking if I could consult on the project by examining the skeletal material in Trinidad,\u201d Schultz said.<\/p>\n<p>He was interested in the project, but wanted to set up a contract through UCF and<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11444\" style=\"width: 274px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2014\/12\/basil_reid.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11444\" class=\"wp-image-11444\" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2014\/12\/basil_reid.jpg\" alt=\"Archaeology\" width=\"264\" height=\"176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2014\/12\/basil_reid.jpg 315w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2014\/12\/basil_reid-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2014\/12\/basil_reid-299x199.jpg 299w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 264px) 100vw, 264px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11444\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Basil Reid<\/p><\/div>\n<p>involve one of his MA Anthropology graduate students, <a href=\"http:\/\/anthropology.cos.ucf.edu\/people\/meyers-patrisha\/\">Patrisha Meyers<\/a>. Meyers traveled to Trinidad on Dec. 13 to prep the material for analysis. This includes cleaning, reconstructing and conducting photography among other things.<\/p>\n<p>Schultz will arrive in Trinidad on Jan. 2 to finish the analysis with Meyers. This trip will be his first to Trinidad to conduct research and they have set a number of goals on determining certain factors about the skeletons.<\/p>\n<p>They need to determine the minimum number of individuals (MNI) that is represented by all of the skeletal material that was excavated. They have also set out to determine demographic information about the skeletal population such as age and sex.
