Professionals, academics, lawyers, doctors and many others representing different fields across the world took advantage of this learning opportunity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ncfs.ucf.edu\/people\/sigman-michael\/\">Dr. Michael Sigman<\/a>, Director of the National Center for Forensic Science and UCF Chemistry professor, gave a presentation on fire debris analysis. Four UCF students were also given the opportunity to present at the conference.\u00a0\u00a0Of the four presenting, three were Chemistry Ph.D. students.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dana-Marie Dennis, gave her presentation on smokeless powders database<\/li>\n<li>Alejandra Flores gave an analysis of fibers<\/li>\n<li>Quashanna Price presented on correspondence analysis of smokeless powders FTIR and MS data.<\/li>\n<li>Undergraduate Jessica Kindell from the Forensic Science program presented on biological degradation of ignitable liquid components in fire debris samples containing soils.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ncfs.ucf.edu\/research\/biological-evidence\/personnel-bi\/\">Dr.\u00a0John Ballantyne<\/a>, Associate Director for Research at the National Center for Forensic Science and UCF Chemistry professor,\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/ncfs.ucf.edu\/research\/biological-evidence\/personnel-bi\/\">Dr. Erin Hanson<\/a>, Research Assistant Professor in the Biological Evidence Section of the National Center for Forensic Science,\u00a0also presented results from their work in the area of forensic biochemistry.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;font-family: 'Georgia',serif\">Two Anthropology MA students, Ashley Green and Patrisha Meyers , presented poster demonstrations\u00a0with their advisor, <a href=\"http:\/\/anthropology.cos.ucf.edu\/people\/schultz-john\/\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1\">Dr.\u00a0John Schultz<\/span><\/a>, Associate Professor, Associate Chair\u00a0and Undergraduate Coordinator for the Anthropology department\u00a0.\u00a0 Green presented the Use of Human Skeleton Remains: It is Forensically Significant?\u00a0 Meyers presented A Preliminary Study for Estimating Postmortem Interval of Fabric Degradation in Central Florida.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday evening, the UCF College of Sciences Alumni Chapter hosted a Networking Knight following the day\u2019s events. \u00a0Approximately 30 UCF alumni and students working in the forensic science industry across the country gathered for the college\u2019s first alumni reception.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/IMG_7408.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-11740 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/IMG_7408-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7408\" width=\"248\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/IMG_7408-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/IMG_7408-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/IMG_7408-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/IMG_7408-299x199.jpg 299w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/IMG_7408.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 248px) 100vw, 248px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next year\u2019s AAFS meeting will be held in Las Vegas.
