These may show the return on investment and return\u00a0on effort for all types of crisis and risk communication initiatives and tactics.<\/p>\n<p>The International Crisis and Risk Communication (ICRC) Conference\u00a0affords attendees the rare opportunity to network with industry leaders and prominent researchers in a relaxed setting.\u00a0Each year the conference brings together more than 40 anticipated sessions and speakers. \u00a0 The\u00a0general and breakout sessions bring a firsthand look at the most current\u00a0topics in the field of crisis and risk communication. \u00a0Pre-conference workshops are also offered, providing longer learning sessions that provide more detailed knowledge, more one-on-one interaction with speakers, and additional training to further develop communication strategies.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Nicholson School of Communication hosted expert speakers who spoke on subjects ranging from \u201cHelping Those in Crisis\u201d to \u201cFighting Ebola with Words.\u201d \u00a0The three day event educated communication professionals on effectively handling communication in crisis situations, such as plane crashes or natural disasters. Social media and technology were also stressed as huge factors in crisis communication, as both can play a large role in preventing a crisis. Staying up to date with social media during a crisis can also go a long way in maintaining a positive image for\u00a0an organization and preventing further panic.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time ever, a special excursion was made to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kennedyspacecenter.com\/\">NASA\u2019s Kennedy Space Center<\/a> for an in-depth crisis communication presentation by NASA Cross-program risk communication coordinator Doug Isbell. Attendees were also able to enjoy a tour of the Space Shuttle Atlantis Exhibit, dinner and a networking reception at the Space Center Visitor Complex.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/DSC_4249c.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-11748 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/DSC_4249c-300x138.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_4249c\" width=\"300\" height=\"138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/DSC_4249c-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/DSC_4249c-768x353.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/DSC_4249c-1024x471.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/DSC_4249c-299x138.jpg 299w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/03\/DSC_4249c.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the final day of the conference, a panel was hosted by five health communication experts from around the world.
