{"id":1223,"date":"2011-07-20T20:21:22","date_gmt":"2011-07-20T20:21:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.cos.ucf.edu\/?p=1223"},"modified":"2011-07-20T20:21:22","modified_gmt":"2011-07-20T20:21:22","slug":"psychiatry-modules-win-national-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/psychiatry-modules-win-national-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Psychiatry modules win national award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UCF College of Medicine\u2019s participation in developing a national database of online instruction in psychiatry helped win the 2011 \u201cOutstanding Innovation in Medical Education Poster Award\u201d from the Association of Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry (ADMSEP.)<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Martin Klapheke, Professor of Psychiatry at the College of Medicine, and Co-Chair of the Clinical Simulation Initiative (CSI) Task Force for ADMSEP, helped initiate the process of developing online videos that teach medical students about mental health issues such as teen depression, dementia, delirium, and bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Klapheke and his colleagues are having the modules peer reviewed and plan to submit them to MedEdPORTAL, making them available online as a free national database for use by medical schools across the country.
