For about 40 <a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/06\/Students_UCFtoday.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-12671 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/06\/Students_UCFtoday.jpg\" alt=\"Students_UCFtoday\" width=\"319\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/06\/Students_UCFtoday.jpg 540w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/06\/Students_UCFtoday-300x219.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2015\/06\/Students_UCFtoday-299x219.jpg 299w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 319px) 100vw, 319px\" \/><\/a>hours a week, the students will work alongside a faculty and graduate mentor to conduct research during the nine-week program.<br \/>\n\/\/ <\/p>\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div id=\"single\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"span7\">\n<article>\n<div id=\"content\">\n<p>In the program\u2019s inaugural year, research groups were selected in five areas, one of which was in chemistry with mentor <a href=\"http:\/\/chemistry.cos.ucf.edu\/people\/kuebler-stephen\/\">Stephen Kuebler, Ph.D,<\/a>\u00a0along with four other areas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In addition to the research experience, they also receive a stipend, housing accommodations, and travel reimbursement. The social and networking events will also grant them the chance to engage in UCF\u2019s graduate community of scholars and make connections with key faculty in their discipline.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of the program, participants will complete a draft of an external funding proposal and graduate application materials. They will also present their research in a poster presentation as the culminating event of the summer program.<\/p>\n<p>In its first year, the program received almost 50 applications from over 30 institutions.
