The previous award winners were <a href=\"http:\/\/math.cos.ucf.edu\/people\/dutkay-dorin\/\">Dorin Dutkay, Ph.D.<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/math.cos.ucf.edu\/people\/nevai-andrew\/\">Andrew Nevai, Ph.D.<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Shuai will receive a five-year grant that will award him with $7,000 per year. The grant starts on September 1, 2015 and will conclude on August 31, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>To apply, the applicant must have a Ph.D. and a tenure-track or tenured position, or be a professor emeritus, at a U.S. institution of higher education, have a current record of active research and publication in high-quality journals and not hold any other external grants of over $3,000 per year that allow for travel support or visitors during the Collaboration Grant award period.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation anticipates distributing around 140 awards per year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Simons Foundation Division for Mathematics and the Physical Sciences recently awarded Zhisheng Shuai, Ph.D., with a grant for mathematics.
