To kick start the fall semester, the UCF Arboretum will be hosting its Welcome Back Garden Celebration<\/strong> September 24, 2015, from 5-8pm. The UCF community is invited to the Arboretum<\/a> to learn more about this campus resource and the services it provides.<\/p>\n

The Arboretum staff will lead an interactive tour during the event and students will participate in hands-on planting and seeding activities in the garden. After the tour, guests will enjoy pizza and socializing in the Nature Pavilion. The event is free and all UCF students, alumni and staff are welcome. This is a great opportunity for the UCF community to visit the Arboretum and learn about its various programs and resources firsthand.<\/p>\n

More about the UCF Arboretum:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Located behind the Harris Engineering Corporation Building (HEC), the UCF Arboretum provides the community with resources to advance ecological knowledge and support environmental and human well-being. The Arboretum has been maintaining a community garden since 2009. Over the years, hundreds of volunteers have donated thousands of hours to help make the garden a success. Today, it is a predominately student run garden that welcomes all of the UCF and Orlando Community to come dig in the dirt and participate in the food growing process. Produce from the garden is donated on a weekly basis to the Knights Pantry and Community volunteers. What was once a small 12 acre disturbed pond pine, the UCF Arboretum now expands across 82 acres, providing the UCF community with great opportunities and programs.<\/p>\n
