Dr Musil will be speaking about how Rachel Carson and her work was and still is\u00a0relevant to the state of\u00a0Florida. The presentation will be\u00a0followed by a\u00a0workshop on environmentalism\u00a0and book signing\u00a0of his book, <a href=\"http:\/\/rutgerspress.rutgers.edu\/product\/Rachel-Carson-and-Her-Sisters,5209.aspx\">&#8220;Rachel Carson and Her Sisters: Extraordinary Women Who Have Shaped America&#8217;s Environment&#8221;<\/a>, that was recently named Outstanding Book of 2016 by Choice Magazine.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Musil was named President and CEO of the RCC\u00a0in Feb. 2014 and is only the third CEO in the history of this environmental group. He is\u00a0the former Executive Director and CEO of the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize winning organization, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psr.org\/\">Physicians for Social Responsibility<\/a> (PSR).<\/p>\n<p>As a member of the Green Group, representing the nation\u2019s thirty-four largest environmental groups, Dr. Musil has met regularly and worked closely over the years<a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2016\/02\/Rachel-Carson-and-her-sisters-book-Musil.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-15073 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2016\/02\/Rachel-Carson-and-her-sisters-book-Musil-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Rachel Carson and her sisters book - Musil\" width=\"187\" height=\"281\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 187px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 187\/281;\" \/><\/a> with leading public figures including Presidents, Vice Presidents, numerous cabinet members, and congressional leaders.<\/p>\n<p>He also initiated PSR\u2019s U.S.-Mexico Border Project in El Paso and Juarez, Mexico and has represented PSR at international environment negotiations in Montreal, Kyoto, Johannesburg, Geneva, and elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Musil is a\u00a0Senior Fellow and Adjunct Professor at the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies, School of Public Affairs, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.american.edu\/sis\/faculty\/musil.cfm\">American University<\/a>, he\u00a0teaches about climate change and American environmental politics.
