\"JamesWright_crop\"Sociology Pegasus Professor, James Wright, Ph.D.,<\/a> contributed his editing skills to\u00a0Elsevier’s “<\/span>International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences”<\/a>,\u00a0helping <\/span><\/span>them win the Award for Excellence in Reference Works<\/a> at the\u00a0<\/span>2016 PROSE Awards<\/a>. Dr. Wright was the editor-in-chief of the “International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences”, 2nd<\/span><\/sup> edition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elsevier is an academic publishing company that publishes medical and scientific literature. Their “International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences”, offers a source of reference material, while\u00a0providing<\/span> authoritative, foundational, and interdisciplinary knowledge across the wide range of behavioral and social sciences fields.<\/p>\n

Dr. Wright serves as the Director of the UCF Institute for Social and Behavioral Sciences<\/a> and is also the\u00a0editor-in-chief of the journal “Social Science Research.<\/a>”<\/p>\n

He has published twenty-one books and more than 300 journal articles, book chapters, essays, reviews, and polemics on topics ranging from poverty to homelessness to guns in America to NASCAR. His latest book is “Poor and Homeless in the Sunshine State: Down and Out in Theme Park Nation<\/a>“, <\/em>written with sociology assistant professor, Amy M. Donley, Ph.D<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition to his university duties, Wright is an active member of the Orlando community. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, Homeless Services Network, HOPE Helps Foundation in Oviedo, and several others.\u00a0 He is also a frequent consultant to the Heart of Florida United Way and Second Harvest Food Bank.<\/p>\n

Nationally, he sits on the Board of Directors of the Horowitz Foundation for Public Policy<\/a> and is an active member of the American Sociological Association and the Southern Sociological Society. Internationally, he serves as the Subject Chair for the Social Sciences to Scopus<\/a><\/em>, Elsevier\u2019s journal indexing, abstracting and citation service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
