They planted three oaks in the Arboretum, and were lead on a guided hike through the campus\u2019 natural lands to learn about the value of urban trees and conservation.<\/p>\n<p>The event celebrated upcoming Arbor Day, and was funded through a \u201cmegabus.com Tree Campus USA\u201d award by the Arbor Day Foundation. Megabus.com has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation and Tree Campus USA to plant 10,000 trees along megabus.com routes and on college campuses.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/today.ucf.edu\/high-schoolers-to-plant-trees-in-arboretum-for-arbor-day\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16372 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2016\/04\/DSC_0818-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0818\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2016\/04\/DSC_0818-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2016\/04\/DSC_0818-768x510.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2016\/04\/DSC_0818-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2016\/04\/DSC_0818-299x199.jpg 299w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2016\/04\/DSC_0818.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oak Ridge High School has an AmeriCorps team on campus that supports at-risk students with tutoring and mentoring. The school also has a Recycling Club, but lacks support to meet the needs of the students, especially when it comes to environmental education and awareness. The Oak Ridge High School Recycling Club and the AmeriCorps team had the opportunity to engage and collaborate with UCF\u2019s Arboretum for this Arbor Day Celebration.
