\nThe UCF College of Sciences Distinguished Speaker Series<\/a> is back with exciting new topics presented by renowned experts in their fields.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s 2016-17 series will be held monthly at Tuscawilla Country Club<\/a>\u00a0at 6:00pm, on the last Wednesday of each month, from September 2016 to April 2017 (excluding December).<\/p>\n

The Distinguished Speaker Series includes seven speakers who will address topics relevant to the natural, computational, social and behavioral sciences to enrich lives of members of the Central Florida community. Five of the seven speakers are experts from the College of Sciences at the University of Central Florida.<\/p>\n

A full dinner buffet will be provided at each event for $20 (paid at the event), including non-alcoholic beverages.\u00a0 Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at the event. Free parking will also be available at the venue.<\/p>\n

The series will kick off with \u2018Evolution and the Significance of the Hobbits\u2019<\/em> on Wednesday September 28, presented by Matthew Tocheri, Ph.D.,<\/a> Canada Research Chair in Human Origins at Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada. The event will begin at 6 p.m. RSVP.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n

<\/u>On October 26, Clint Bowers, Ph.D.,<\/a> from the UCF Psychology Department, will present \u2018A Mostly Serious Talk about Serious Games.\u2019<\/p>\n

In November, Tim Sellnow, Ph.D., and Deanna Sellnow, Ph.D.,<\/a> from UCF Nicholson School of Communication, will present \u2018Communicating During a Crisis: Making Connections that Matter with Diverse Publics.\u2019<\/p>\n

In January, G\u00fcne\u015f Murat Tezc\u00fcr, Ph.D.<\/a>, from the UCF Political Science Department, will present \u2018What do Terrorists and Freedom Fighters Have in Common?\u2019<\/p>\n

In February, Richard Rosenfeld, Ph.D.<\/a>, from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, will present \u20182015 Homicide Rise and the \u2018Ferguson Effect.\u2019<\/p>\n

In March, Daniel Britt, Ph.D.<\/a>, from the UCF Physics Department, will present \u2018Orbits and Ice Ages: The History of Climate.\u2019<\/p>\n

And in conclusion of the series, in April, Charissa de Bekker, Ph.D.<\/a>, of the UCF Biology Department, will present \u2018The Story of Zombie Ants: How Can a Fungal Parasite Control Animal Behavior\u2019.<\/p>\n
