The criterion for election is exceptional contributions to the physics enterprise; e.g., outstanding physics research, important applications of physics, leadership in or service to physics, or significant contributions to physics education.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-22453\" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2017\/10\/Dr-Enrique-del-Barco-250x363.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"127\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2017\/10\/Dr-Enrique-del-Barco-250x363.jpg 250w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2017\/10\/Dr-Enrique-del-Barco-250x363-207x300.jpg 207w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 127px) 100vw, 127px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fellowship is a distinct honor signifying recognition by one\u2019s professional peers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/physics\/people\/del-barco-enrique\/\">Enrique Del Barco<\/a>, Ph.D., Associate Chair for the Department of Physics and Interim Associate Dean for the College of Sciences, was nominated by the Topical Group on Magnetism. His fellowship citation states, \u201cFor seminal and sustained contributions to the understanding of quantum phenomena in low dimensional magnetic materials, primarily through experimental studies of quantum tunneling in molecular magnets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-22454\" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2017\/10\/Mucciolo-Eduardo-250x360.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"126\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2017\/10\/Mucciolo-Eduardo-250x360.jpg 250w, https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2017\/10\/Mucciolo-Eduardo-250x360-208x300.jpg 208w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 126px) 100vw, 126px\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/physics\/people\/mucciolo-eduardo\/\">Eduardo Mucciolo<\/a>, Ph.D., Chair for the Department of Physics was also selected. He was nominated by the Division of Condensed Matter Physics. His fellowship citation states, \u201cFor sustained contributions to understanding electronic transport in low-dimensional systems, including spin-pumping in quantum dots, disorder effects in graphene and Kondo systems, Berry phase in single-molecule magnets, and correlated noise attacks on quantum error correction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations on being selected as Fellows of the American Physical Society,\u201d Dean of the College of Sciences, Michael Johnson said. \u201cThis is a great honor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each nomination is evaluated by the Fellowship committee of the appropriate APS division, topical group or forum, or by the APS General Fellowship committee.
