COMM Day is a day of professional development for students to help them transition to the real world. Nationally-renown speakers will share insights on careers and skills needed to start your career. UCF Alumni also will learn new ideas and strategies for keeping their skills current in the changing communication landscape.\u00a0COMM Day is sponsored by the Nicholson Chapter of the UCF Alumni Association and the Nicholson School of Communiction.<\/p>\n

Cost includes lunch, keynote speaker and afternoon general session speaker. There are tons of door prizes–including an iPad3.<\/p>\n

The luncheon includes a fantastic keynote presentation by Luke Sullivan. Luke is the author of the famous advertising how-to book, Hey Whipple, Squeeze This: A Guide to Creating Great Advertising. It is used as an advertising text in ad programs across the country. The book was ranked by Advertising Age readers at #5 on the list of top 10 media and marketing books of all time. In his 30 years in advertising, Luke created notable campaigns for Norwegian Cruise Line, Miller Lite, United Airlines, Toyota, Black & Decker, BMW, Porsche and AT&T. Today he is on faculty with the Savannah College of Art and Design where he is in charge of the advertising program. He will present
\nLeveraging Cultural Tensions to Spark Creativity.\u00a0He will share ideas for how each of us can leverage cultural tensions that exist around a category or a product, and how using these tensions can spark more and better creativity.<\/p>\n

The afternoon general session speaker, Justice Mitchell, will present\u00a0Career Start Ups: Leveraging Social Media Professionally.<\/p>\n

He will get us all up to speed on social media, how to use it in your job search, and how it will become part of your career.<\/p>\n

Justice is Vice President, interactie creative and social media director for Starmark. He brings more than 18 years of experience in using, design and planning social media, interactive and traditional advertising campaigns for Starmark\u2019s clients.
