Marianna Pensky, Ph.D.<\/a>, was recently inducted as a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.<\/p>\nThe IMS fosters development and innovation in the field of statistical sciences. Annually, a number of individuals from the 3,500 members worldwide are nominated and inducted as fellows to recognize their contribution to the scientific community.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy life\u2019s work is statistics,\u201d said Pensky. \u201cThe field is quickly developing and it\u2019s very exciting. It\u2019s dynamic and there are many applications to be found throughout, ranging from computer science to biological statistics.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pensky focuses primarily on high-dimensional statistics. During her time at UCF, Pensky has studied computer vision, statistical genetics and population biology and reliability.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a very pleasant recognition for me,\u201d said Pensky. \u201cI came to UCF over twenty-five years ago, and getting this job and being in my position is still the biggest highlight of my entire career.\u201d<\/p>\n
