Rahman was recognized for helping underrepresented groups and creating an inclusive environment for aspiring STEM students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I am honored to receive this award, it is even more of a delight to note the importance that professional societies are giving to mentoring. I am thankful to my mentors and my gratitude to all mentors, whether formally recognized or not, who are helping others reach their peak,\u201d Rahman said.<\/p>\n<p>The AVS seeks to recognize mentors with scientific and engineering backgrounds for their efforts in mentoring the future generations of scientists and engineers.
