The College of Sciences Advancement team recently hosted a Dean\u2019s Advisory Board Summer Social event to celebrate the inaugural football game of UCF\u2019s ascent to the Big 12. Members of the College of Sciences Dean\u2019s Advisory Board and Alumni Chapter gathered at the UCF Arboretum\u2019s nature pavilion to celebrate. COS Dean Maggy Tomova, Ph.D. joined the alumni in conversation to learn more about their careers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomova said, \u201cOur students continue to benefit from the generosity and wisdom of the Dean\u2019s Advisory Board and the Alumni Chapter Members. We are excited to celebrate UCF\u2019s first game in the Big 12 with some of the strongest supporters of the College.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees enjoyed Sonny\u2019s BBQ, yard games and a photo backdrop to celebrate the occasion. The event gave young alumni like Chemistry alumna Olivia Feild \u201820 \u201822MS<\/a> a chance to network with Dean\u2019s Advisory Board members. Feild applies what she learned at UCF in her role as a Chemistry Lab Technician at Kennedy Space Center. She shared, \u201cOne of the most rewarding aspects of being a COS alumna is continuing to engage with my peers and putting a name to the faces of all the Dean\u2019s Advisory Board members.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Amanda Kelly \u201898<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Amanda Kelly \u201898 is a new College of Sciences Alumni Chapter member\u2014and she was excited to attend her first event! Amanda earned her Bachelor of Arts in advertising\/public relations from the Nicholson School of Communication and Media and is the Director, Marketing and Sales Strategy, Emerging Business at Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. \u201cBetween being back in school recently, a passion around developing up-and-coming talent in my field and the gratitude I have for how UCF shaped my career and life, I wanted to find a way to give back here.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>

Neil Ganey \u201899 \u201801 \u201804MS \u201806Ph.D. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Among the Dean\u2019s Advisory Board attendees was Neil Ganey \u201899 \u201801 \u201804MS \u201806Ph.D. Ganey is the NG Fellow for Human Systems Engineering and Integration at Northrop Grumman Corporation. Reflecting on his time so far serving on the board, Ganey shared, \u201cIt was during my time in the College of Sciences that I learned about the value of cross-disciplinary collaboration.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tony Pomonis, Executive Director for Advancement at COS, recognizes the value in events like these that bring our alumni together. \u201cIt was wonderful seeing future Knights, current Knights and former Knights come together around great food, games and stories. New traditions like these cement our bright future at the College of Sciences,\u201d shared Pomonis.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the COS alumni network continues to grow with alumni representing our 10 departments and schools, new opportunities for engagement will continue to emerge.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
