UCF Psychology student Keila Villageas has been providing vegan samples in conjunction with the\u00a0Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, which\u00a0set up in downtown Orlando recently to promote\u00a0veganism\u00a0by providing free food samples and also to protest the treatment of animals in the meat industry.\u00a0She said her love of animals drew her to the organization.\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m against animal cruelty and I don\u2019t agree with how factory farms are treating animals,\u201d she said. \u201cOf course, I want to be healthy, but it\u2019s more so for the animals. I just don\u2019t like the way they\u2019re treated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Members from the foundation were on the corner of Church Street and Orange Avenue, providing samples of vegan hot dogs and vegan Boca burgers. Bryan Wilson, Central Florida coordinator for the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, said that being vegan is good for many reasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kinder for the environment, and it\u2019s definitely nicer on the animals,\u201d he said. \u201cWith more than nine billion animals being killed every year for food production, it\u2019s unnecessary. We live happier diets, we live healthier diets, by adopting a vegan diet. Nothing has to die.\u201d<\/p>\n
