Central Blvd., Orlando, FL 32801. You can find\u00a0directions\u00a0at their website,\u00a0thehistorycenter.org.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Canan has\u00a0been at the forefront of environmental conservation internationally. She\u00a0served as the Executive Director of the Global Carbon Project in Tsukuba,\u00a0Japan; was listed on the \u201cMontreal Protocol Who\u2019s Who\u201d by the United\u00a0Nations Environment Program; and won the \u201cBest of the Best\u201d Award for\u00a0Ozone Layer Protection from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,\u00a0among many other awards and recognitions.<\/p>\n<p>She has co-authored two\u00a0influential books, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ozone-Connections-Networks-Environmental-Governance\/dp\/1874719403\">\u201cOzone Connections: Expert Networks in Global\u00a0Environmental Governance\u201d<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Slapps-Getting-Sued-Speaking-Out\/dp\/1566393698\">\u201cSLAPPs: Getting Sued for Speaking Out.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The event is October 2 from 4-5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.\u00a0Complimentary hors d\u2019oeuvres, beer, wine and soda will be available.<br \/>\nCall (407) 836-7010 to register.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Join us for an informal discussion with UCF Sociology Professor Penelope Canan, Ph.D., on the\u00a0importance of teaching conservation to children.\u00a0She will speak\u00a0about the benefits of learning about the environment at a young age.
