UCF Communication Assistant Professor Dr. Lindsay Neuberger\u00a0recently received a grant from the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling Inc. to conduct research on problem gambling behaviors among college students. She will be working with graduate students to develop moderator guides and conduct focus groups at universities across the state.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

These focus group discussions will evaluate gambling prevention and treatment materials that are currently in use and investigate new potential methods of outreach to college students with gambling problems. Although not traditionally thought of as a health issue, problematic gambling can have severe negative consequences, and this project fits in with Dr. Neuberger\u2019s health campaign research that has covered diverse contexts such as smoking, nutrition and breast cancer.<\/p>\n

Lindsay Neuberger is an Assistant Professor in the interpersonal-organizational division of the UCF Nicholson School of Communication. She earned her PhD at Michigan State University and received bachelors and masters degrees from Wake Forest University. Her research is focused on health campaigns and has covered diverse health issues including breast cancer, blood donation, and nutrition. Specifically, Dr. Neuberger\u2019s research investigates uncertainty, information seeking, and persuasion in health campaigns.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
