Northrop Grumman employee and UCF alumnus, Omar Thompson, \u201901, received a Special Recognition award at the annual Black Engineer of the Year Award STEM Global Competitiveness Conference held Feb. 7-9 in Washington, D.C.\u00a0\"Omar_Thompson\"<\/p>\n

BEYA acknowledges excellence in accomplishments in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. Award recipients were recognized for their dedication to community service, educational leadership and outstanding technical contribution, among other contributions.<\/p>\n

Omar Thompson, \u201901, is a senior reliability engineer for Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems sector. Thompson has provided reliability engineering for NASA’s Space Shuttle program, and at Northrop Grumman has helped improve field reliability for U.S. government and NATO customers, saving more than $100 million. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology, master’s degrees in industrial engineering and modeling and simulation, and a doctorate in modeling and simulation from the University of Central Florida.<\/p>\n
