Kiel, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science, passed away August 8, 2013. \u00a0Professor Kiel joined UCF in 1990 as an Assistant Professor in the Political Science Department.\u00a0 His research focused on political theory and public policy, especially in the areas of education and environmental politics.\u00a0 Professor Kiel was a dedicated teacher in the department\u2019s undergraduate and graduate programs, and he was also a core faculty member in Interdisciplinary Studies.\u00a0 He directed the department\u2019s graduate program for several years.\u00a0 His enthusiasm for teaching and his commitment to his students were recognized with several Excellence in Teaching awards at UCF.\u00a0 He was an active participant in the Society for Utopian Studies and the Western Social Science Association.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><em><strong>To honor Professor Kiel\u2019s passion for teaching, a Dwight C.
