{"id":819,"date":"2011-05-09T12:52:43","date_gmt":"2011-05-09T12:52:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.cos.ucf.edu\/?p=819"},"modified":"2011-05-09T12:52:43","modified_gmt":"2011-05-09T12:52:43","slug":"honors-societies-welcomes-new-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/news\/honors-societies-welcomes-new-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Honors societies welcomes new members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this year the Physics and Math Honors Societies both received new members during the Annual Induction Ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The societies welcomed the strongest math and physics students at UCF.\u00a0In particular, the physics SPS chapter has been one of the top\u00a0organizations in the nation consistently and currently\u00a0helps the National parent society organize the 2012 Sigma Pi Sigma\u00a0Congress, which will be held in Orlando. \u00a0As a\u00a0result 1,000 top students from around the nation will visit UCF.<\/p>\n<p>Both societies celebrated with a ceremony, informal discussion period and lunch.\u00a0Besides the student inductees, Honorary\u00a0Memberships were presented to\u00a0Dr. Piotr Mikusinski and\u00a0Dr. Debra Reinhart,\u00a0who have supported the organizations and, in general, math and physics.<\/p>\n<p>The awards to all inductees were presented by\u00a0Dr. Michael Hampton,\u00a0who has been one of our continuous supporters and is a past honorary member.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this year the Physics and Math Honors Societies both received new members during the Annual Induction Ceremony.
