John W. G. Tisch gained his undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Tasmania and his PhD in Physics from Imperial College London. After an EPSRC Advanced Fellowship and a period working at the ETH Zurich, Tisch gained a lectureship position at Imperial College in 2003 and was promoted to professor in 2009.

Olga Smirnova graduated in 1996 with her undergraduate degree in Physics, and obtained a PhD in Physics in 2000, both from Moscow State University, Russia. She is currently a Professor of Physics, Technical University Berlin and Group Leader at the Max Born Institute in Berlin, Germany.
