Graduate Society of Physics Students (GSPS) Tea Time @ Physical Sciences Bldg., Atrium
Nov 1 @ 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm

The Graduate Society of Physics Students is pleased to announce that we will be hosting Tea Time this year! It’s our hope that these events will provide an avenue for students and faculty to take a much-needed break from their normal activities and spend some time getting to know other members of the UCF Physics community. Of course, there will be plenty of tea (possibly coffee as well) and light snacks, as is befitting of such a social gathering.

On behalf of the GSPS, I would like invite you to attend our first Tea Time event of the semester, which is scheduled for Friday, October 11, at 2:30 PM (immediately following the Physics Colloquium) in the PSB Atrium. Please come join us! Also, we would encourage you to pass along any thoughts, suggestions or concerns that you may have regarding this and future events.

Outreach School Teacher Meeting @ PSB 160/161
Nov 2 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am

In an effort to promote awareness about Physics among k12 students, UCF Physics Department is organizing a meeting with school teachers/coordinators. The meeting is in PSB 160/161, on November 2, Saturday, starting at 10 am. The meeting will be for one and half hours and will begin with a presentation by Dr. Eduardo Mucciolo, Chair of the Physics Department. Following this, the Outreach Committee chair at the UCF Physics Department, Dr. Ahlam Al-rawi, will present different aspects of Physics department outreach programs, and what we can offer to help motivate k12 students develop their interest in Physics.  She will also talk about possible collaborations with the schools.  Following Dr. Al-rawi’s presentation, there will be a question and answer session.  This is the best opportunity for the school teachers/coordinators to let us know what their expectations are and how the UCF physics department can help them achieve their desired goals.

Women in Physics (WiP) Meetings @ PSB 160
Nov 4 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Hello all,

Welcome back! This year the Women in Physics Society (WiP), formerly the Physics Women Society (PWS), will be holding monthly general meetings as well as monthly professional development workshops. We encourage ALL students and faculty (not just women and underrepresented minorities) to attend and participate, as we believe that building an inclusive learning/working environment requires all members of the department.
