In this episode we discuss a new way to see gravitational waves that LIGO could not see. As gravitational waves ripple across the universe, the position of the Earth and its observatories shift by the tiniest amounts, and when that happens the positions of things the observatories look at seem to shift by tiny amounts. The European Gaia Observatory may be able to detect collisions of supermassive black holes.
