Dr. Khondaker received his Ph.D. degree in 1999 from Cavendish Laboratory of the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Professor Michael Pepper FRS. After finishing the Ph.D., Dr. Khondaker worked first as an assistant professor and then as an associate professor at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh from 1999 to 2001. In 2001, he started a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin, where he worked on the nanoscale device fabrication and characterization. From 2003 to 2005, he worked as an assistant director at the center for nano and molecular science and technology at the University of Texas at Austin.
