Gary Smith is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Security Studies program at the University of Central Florida. He received his M.A. from UCF in the summer of 2014. He currently serves as the Chair-Elect of the Early Career Committee of the International Society of Political Psychology (formally Junior Scholars Committee). Beginning in July 2017, he will become the Chair of the ECC. He has previously served as the co-coordinator of the Mentoring Program and Professional Development programs hosted by the ECC. In the summer of 2013, he was a fellow at the ISPP’s Summer Academy for Political Psychology, as well as an attendee at the Stanford Summer Institute for Political Psychology. His research on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning has been published in PS: Political Science & Politics and Politics. Additionally he has a forthcoming book chapter in the Oxford Encyclopedia of Foreign Policy Analysis. Additional research has been presented at the annual meetings of the ISPP, ISA, SPSA, and APSA. His research interests include international relations, elite decision-making behavior, and the psychological correlates of international conflict.
