I would like to extend a warm welcome to the School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs (SPSIA). As a recent Florida transplant, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career to teach UCF students and collaborate with UCF faculty. In one of the largest research-intensive universities in the nation, our mission involves providing excellent education to our undergraduate and graduate students. Our accomplished and diverse faculty conducts cutting-edge and impactful research, contributes to broader public debates in the United States and beyond, and engages in many different service opportunities. Together, we aim to foster an environment of intellectual stimulation, seek novel partnership, and shed light on issues central to national and global politics and security.

Our versatile and innovative Security Studies PhD Program appeals to many different students including individuals who pursue an academic career, seek federal and private jobs in the security sector, and mid-career professionals. Our Political Science MA Program prepares students to enter positions in the government and the private sector, advance their professional careers, and pursue more advanced graduate degrees such as a PhD and JD. Our B.A. in Political Science and International and Global Studies, as well as our various minors and certificates serve to a very diverse body of students and enhances social mobility, a core mission of higher education. Our affiliated institutes, centers and programs including the Kurdish Political Studies Program, the India Center, Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence, the Lou Frey Institute, and the Center for Global Economic and Environmental Opportunity enrich student life and scholarship in unique ways.

I invite you to explore and get actively involved in our School. I would also be delighted to meet with you on our gorgeous campus in Orlando.
